About Us
Robin and Tori Chapman have owned Adkins True Value Hardware since 1990.
* Locksmith and carpenter available with the emphasis on locksmithing.
* Hardware and Building materials.
* Supply locks to Cobar, Roxby Downs, Wilcannia, Ivanhoe and surrounding areas.
* Contract work for Transfield, API Securities, CUBB, Spotless Facilities Management,
Independent Locksmiths, James Fielding Group, York/Haden/Tyco, Crown Properties, B.H. City Council, Banks, Schools and Government Departments.
History
True Value Hardware in Australia commenced in 1990 with the consolidation of several small chains of independent hardware retailers Price Right in QLD, Village Hardware in Vic/Tas and True Value Hardware in NSW and SA. The original trading name comes from the United States, but today there is no link. True Value Hardware is a registered brand of Mitre 10 Ltd.
The rationale in consolidating the various groups into True Value Hardware was towards achieving economies of scale which would help us deliver better service to our customers across Australia.
Adkins up to 1984 was a Timber Merchant, Cabinet Making and Locksmith business.
In 1984 Larry and Pauline Pryor, Bob and Heather Lambert bought the business. Pauline and Bob are brother and sister. Adkins joined the Murray River Wholesalers Group before it becomes Town & Country Hardware Group.
In 1988 Bob and Heather sold to Ross and Jackie Nettle.
1990 Larry and Pauline moved to Coffs Harbour starting a Locksmith Service and sold to Robin and Tori Chapman. Larry is Robin’s uncle and went into partnership with Coffs Harbour City Locksmiths in 2010.
1993 Robin and Tori bought all shares.
2000 the Mitre 10 building was purchased and moved into.
2006 the Cottons Business was bought to add the Timber and Building Supplies to the business as Adkins supplied Paint and Hardware but the Timber and Building supply offer was limited. Cottons was strong in Timber and Building Supplies but limited in Paint and Hardware. So the offer was combined in a shrinking market.
